Said M. Easa

Dr. Easa is internationally recognized as a leading scholar in his field. In 2024, ScholarGPS ranked him #2 in transportation engineering and #7 in surveying. His research encompasses many transportation areas, including planning, design, operation, and management. He has published over 500 refereed journal articles and served as the editor of a bestselling book on Urban Planning and Development Applications of GIS, published by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He is also an Associate Editor for the Journal of Transportation Engineering and the Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering. A Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, the Engineering Institute of Canada, and the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE), he has held significant positions, such as President of the Online Network Enabled ITS Research Society and vice president of the CSCE. His leadership has extended nationally and internationally, having led a national delegation to China, judged the annual Canadian Consulting Engineering awards, and served on a national grant selection committee. He has organized and chaired many conferences, sponsored by ASCE, CSCE, and IAAM. His outstanding contributions to the field have been recognized with numerous lifetime achievement awards, including the Frank M. Masters Transportation Engineering Award from ASCE (2001), the Sandford Fleming Award from CSCE (2003), the Arthur M. Wellington Prize from ASCE (2005), the Award of Academic Merit from the Transportation Association of Canada (2010), and the IAAM Medal from the International Association for Advanced Materials (2018).
